Tom Taylor, CPA/PFS

Principal & Portfolio Manager

Tom founded the firm in May 1998 as an independent investment firm specializing in providing individuals, families, small businesses and institutions with unbiased investment management and financial planning advice.  He is an experienced investment manager and financial planner and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s investment advisory practice, financial and tax planning practice.

 

Tom’s investment philosophy is predicated on the belief that “properly allocated and individually managed investment portfolios should contain assets that are consistent with the goals and objectives of our clients and should be monitored continuously by principals with the highest standards of integrity, experience and investment acumen.”

 

Before founding the firm, Tom spent two years with the Corporate Finance division of the Baltimore based investment bank, Legg Mason, Inc.  While at Legg Mason, Tom completed various common stock and merger transactions valued at over $1.4 billion.  Tom began his career in the audit practice of the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP, also in Baltimore.

 

Educational Background

Tom graduated cum laude from Mount Saint Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, Maryland, in 1993 with degrees in Accounting and Finance and is a 1989 honors graduate of Calvert Hall College High School, in Towson, Maryland.  He received his Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) license in 1996, is a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) and has completed the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) Series 65 exam.

 

In 2005 Tom was named “Most Outstanding Alumnus” of

Calvert Hall College High School, an honor he truly cherishes.

 

Personal Information

Tom and his wife Amy live in Kingsville with their four children.  Tom is immediate Past-President of the Calvert Hall College High School Alumni Association and has served as Chairman of the Homecoming Committee for the past several years.  He is a member of the President’s Advisory Council of Mount Saint Mary’s University and a member of the Knights of Columbus (Third Degree), Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Towson Chamber of Commerce.  Tom is also a member of the Towson Elks and Towson Golf and Country Club.

 

Recently, Tom was elected to the Board of Directors of One Less Car, an advocate for safe and effective transportation alternatives in Maryland.

Tim joined our firm from T. Rowe Price in March 1999 as a portfolio manager and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s investment advisory practice which includes investment management of taxable and non-taxable accounts and planning services for retirement, estates, trusts, endowments and income taxes for the firm’s clients.
 
Tim believes that “Superior long term results are achieved with constant analysis of each investment.  We approach each investment as if we were going to buy the entire company and during ownership, we continue to analyze the investment to ensure the fundamentals and objectives of the continue to improve and equally as important, proper valuations are maintained.”
 
Prior to joining the firm, Tim spent several years in the financial services industry, including positions as research analyst, equity trader and statistician with T. Rowe Price and Croft-Leominster, both investment advisory firms located in Baltimore, Maryland.
 
Educational Background
Tim graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, Maryland, in 1993.  He received Bachelor of Science degrees in economics and finance.  Tim is also a graduate of St. Mary’s Ryken High School in Leonardtown, Maryland.  Additionally, Tim has completed the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) Series 65 exam.
 
Personal Information
Tim and his wife, Christina, live in Highland Maryland with their three children.  Tim currently serves on the Board of Trustees’ Endowment Committee for Mount St. Mary’s University.  Tim is also a member of The Annapolis Yacht Club and The Southern Maryland Society, and is also a former board member of the Society.
 
 
    

Katie M. Barnaba 

Associate

Katie joined our firm in April 2010 as an Associate.  She is an experienced operations manager and has spent the last several years in the financial services industry having held senior level operations roles within local financial services companies.  Katie joins our team with the primary responsibility of coordinating our back-office operations and assisting the portfolio managers.
 

Educational Background

Katie graduated from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in 2003.  She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Information Systems and a minor in Psychology.  Katie is also a graduate of Loch Raven High School in Towson, MD.

 

Personal Information

Katie is a life long Baltimore resident and grew up in Loch Raven Village.  Like many Baltimoreans, she spent five summers in Ocean City, Maryland where she worked at the Ocean City landmark and world famous, Fager's Island.  She loves to read, is a huge Baltimore Raven's fan and currently lives in Canton, MD.  Katie is studying for her Series 65, Securities Law Exam.
